Here is a great video demonstrating the importance of taking nature and biomimicry into consideration within design concepts. Mimicking natural elements in our designs, creates an organic flow. It is important to consider the natural design of the elements around us. As simple as understanding why the beak of a bird may be shaped a specific way can be an important principle to implement within your design concept. In 1989, EIji Nakatsu, General Manager of the Technical Developments Program in Japan, spearheaded a team of engineers and constructed new upgrades to the Shinkansen Bullet Train. Their purpose of the train’s enhancements was to minimize the sound of a sonic boom. The sound is created due to mircro-pressure waves from forced speeds of the train while it passes through the tunnels in urban areas.
